'Homeland' season 6 spoilers news: 'Limitless,' 'The Flash' actors board spy series; new fictional president based on Clinton, Trump

The upcoming sixth season of Showtime's "Homeland" is set to feature a couple of new faces.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the popular spy thriller has tapped "The Flash" actor Patrick Sabongui and "Limitless" actor Hill Harper to take on new recurring roles.

Sabongui will portray a CUNY law professor who also happens to be an advocate for the Muslim-American community. The character will be working closely with Carrie (Claire Danes), who will be involved with a New York City foundation that offers aid to Muslims in the U.S.

Meanwhile, Harper will be introduced as the chief of staff of fictional U.S. president-elect Elizabeth Keane, who will be played by fellow season 6 newbie Elizabeth Marvel.

Marvel also appears in Netflix's "House of Cards."

Apart from his recurring role on The CW's "The Flash," Sabongui is set to appear in the upcoming "Power Rangers" reboot. He has also appeared on "Fringe," "Arrow," and "24." Harper has appeared in a variety of television shows, including "CSI: NY," "CSI: Miami," and "Covert Affairs."

"Homeland," which is set to debut its sixth season in January, begins production in New York next week, EW reports. Season 6 will reportedly find Carrie moving back to the U.S. The new season will be set in the days between Election Day and the inauguration of the new president.

While the events on the show will coincide with real-life events in U.S. politics, showrunner Alex Gansa has revealed that the "Homeland" president will not be based on any single existing presidential candidate.

"Every season, when we're developing stories, we are terrified of being counter-factual by the time we air, or irrelevant, so this year we're sort of hedging our bets in terms of our president," the "Homeland" boss said. "Although she's a woman, she's a little bit Hillary Clinton, a little bit Donald Trump, and a little bit Bernie Sanders."

"Homeland" season 6 debuts on Sunday, Jan. 15, on Showtime.
