'Homeland' season 6 episode 2 spoilers: Quinn struggles to find new lease on life as suspicions fall on Keane
Thanks to online streaming sites, the premiere episode of "Homeland" season 6 came to viewers' households ahead of its official release date. With it came a very clear confirmation that Quinn (Rupert Friend) has indeed managed to pull off his previously comatose state.
The first episode of "Homeland" season 6, now available to watch on Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime, will immediately make it clear that some amount of time has passed from when the fifth season ended, and that the show's location has also shifted to New York City. Quinn is alive, but is far from being well as he struggles to get back up on his feet in a VA facility, where he is undergoing both physical and emotional rehabilitation following his near-death in season 5.
Things have changed as well for the other characters on the show, particularly Carrie (Claire Danes) who is now working for a foundation that provides legal assistance to Muslims in the U.S., and whose regular visits to Quinn only serves to agitate the latter even more.
As to what medical miracle could have possibly woken Quinn up from his coma, executive producer Chip Johannessen told TV Line that there was no technical explanation.
"When we meet him, he's just back. But really altered," Johannessen said, adding, "And we've been trying our best in the storytelling to take advantage of that, because it's really quite interesting."
How will Quinn's altered state play into the show's sixth season storyline? The next episode of "Homeland" titled "The Man in the Basement" will feature more of his struggles with his newfound life and its corresponding limitations and possibilities. While Carrie and Reda (Patrick Sabongui) continue their fight for their client and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Dar (F. Murray Abraham) begin to suspect Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) of harboring a significant secret.
"Homeland" season 6 will premiere on Showtime on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 9 p.m. EST, while episode 2 will air on the following Sunday, Jan. 22.
