'Horizon: Zero Dawn' release date, latest news: Sony releases new cinematic trailer for upcoming action RPG

Sony Interactive Entertainment recently released a new cinematic trailer for the highly-anticipated action role-playing video game by Guerrilla Games titled "Horizon: Zero Dawn."

According to Gamespot, the trailer video sheds light on some of the allies and enemies that Aloy, the game's main character, will be fighting against. It also hints at the video game's plot. However, the new trailer reportedly raises more questions than answers, showing off dangerous-looking masked warriors without divulging their identity and displaying Aloy's unique power to control some robot-dinosaur creatures with her mind.

In the video game, players will be taking on the character of an outcast living with a tribe in an isolated part of the world. Some of these inhabitants will detest and ignore Aloy, which means that there will be very limited interaction and trading activities with most non-playable characters in the game. The quests serve as a tutorial for gamers to help them get acquainted with the game's mechanics.

"Horizon: Zero Dawn," according to Gamerant, is one of the most anticipated video games of 2017. Not only is it praised for its gorgeous visuals and unique-looking gameplay, but the game, as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, shows a lot of promise to become a high-grossing game franchise in the future.

The action RP game was originally slated for launch back in 2016 before Sony made the announcement to delay its release until February 2017. At the time, the reasons for the delay, according to its game developer, Guerrilla Games, was to give the company "the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitions for 'Horizon: Zero Dawn'."

With the positive feedback that the newest cinematic trailer is currently enjoying, it looks like those ambitions have finally been realized.

"Horizon: Zero Dawn" is scheduled for release in the United States on Feb. 28 and in the UK and Europe on March 1.
