'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Will Claire take over the presidential seat?
"House of Cards" season 4 has seen just how dangerous and conniving Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) is and fans are to find out how any more of a threat the US First Lady will become to her husband Frank (Kevin Spacey) in season 5 when it is released in 2017.
In addition, in season 4, it has been the first time for Claire to join Frank to break the fourth wall. The Independent calls it "a powerful moment" which reinforces the first couple's devious partnership. According to the publication, it will be interesting to see if Claire's super-narrative position outside of the fourth wall has just been for effect or if it will continue all the way to season 5. After all, the possibility of Claire Underwood monologues is an exciting idea.
Meanwhile, a little less than a year prior to the season 5 release, it is speculated that the story will take an unfavorable course for Frank. He will lose the presidency to his wife and the rumor mill thinks of several possible reasons for this to happen. One reason can be Frank's death, which will not be taken as entirely surprising since he has been suffering from liver failure. Another theory points to Frank's resignation. Another one says that Frank will be sent to an impeachment trial because of his previous transgressions, or that Claire will straightforwardly fight him in the re-election.
There is one thing in common among these speculations and that is, Claire will be named US President whichever theory actually happens.
It will have to take some time before "House of Cards" followers find out which of these rumors will come out true.
"House of Cards" is a political drama by showrunner Beau Willimon which is an American adaptation of the BBC mini-series of the same title and is based on Michael Dobbs' 1989 novel. It has been renewed for season 5 but the preceding season was the last of Willimon, who will then "move on to new endeavors."
