Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: One of three teams linked to Rudy Gay

In what seems to be a long and winding talk about where Rudy Gay will end up, rumors are circulating that it is now down to only three teams.

Inquisitr recently reported that the Houston Rockets, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls are the most likely destinations for the small forward.

Gay has had a tough time with the Sacramento Kings and is apparently ready to call it quits. He has spent close to three seasons with the Kings and produced decent numbers for himself. With Sacramento, Gay averaged 19.4 points per game while playing around 35 minutes.

Gay seemingly fails to fit the Kings' mold despite the good numbers and may be looking for a contender to help him get to the playoffs while he is at his peak.

Now at 30 years old, Gay seems to be veering in that direction and the Rockets are a strong contender for his services.

The biggest issue facing the Rockets at the moment is that they may not have enough pieces to push a trade with Sacramento for Gay.

Reports believe that Corey Brewer may be thrown in the mix but it will not be enough for Sacramento to let go of Gay, while other teams like the Thunder have a lot of pieces they can let go of in order to land Gay.

The best thing going for the Rockets at the moment is that their style of play benefits Gay the most. With Mike D'Antoni running the plays for Houston, it is expected that play will be open and a lot of scoring will be done.

Gay is a proven scorer and can also handle his own in the defensive end. He is excellent on the wings and will flourish under D'Antoni's leadership.

If the Rockets are serious about trying to get Gay in the line-up, they must move more pieces or get a third team involved to make the deal possible or risk losing another star for their possible line-up.
