One of their worst fears has been realized as the Houston Texans will miss out on the services of J.J. Watt after their superstar is out of the season.

Only three games into the 2016 season, the Texans lose their best player as Watt underwent surgery to fix his back injury.

This effectively ends Watt's season and that is a huge blow for the Texans who were looking to break out this campaign.

The news was tweeted by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, and now the Texans are going to try to fill in a huge hole as the Pro Bowl Defensive End will surely be missed.

Watt had surgery before the year started to fix a herniated disc but made it back to Week 1.

Unfortunately, he also re-injured it, resulting in the team placing him on the Injured Reserve. Signs initially pointed that he might return around December, but after going under the knife, it ended all speculations on his return.

Watt last played in Week 3 when they were dismantled by the New England Patriots. This was where he picked up the injury and the Texans also earned their first loss of the season.

Naturally, missing Watt in the lineup gives the Texans a lot of problems. Watt is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and was the winner of the last two.

He has a natural knack for finding the right tackle and his quickness and power made him a tough opponent.

It should be very interesting to see how Houston can bounce back with this, and how their defence can hold up against their coming opponents.

Houston will have a battle against the Tennessee Titans at home on Sunday, Oct. 2, and this will truly be a tough task for them without Watt.

At the moment, the Texans are 2–1 to lead the AFC South, with the Titans below them at 1–2.
