'How to Get Away with Murder' season 3 spoilers: cast weighs in on Wes' death

The long and agonizing wait to find out who was responsible for Wes Gibbins' (Alfred Enoch) murder is about to end when "How to Get Away with Murder" returns for the second half of season 3.

Toward the end of the winter finale, fans of the legal drama thriller found out that Wes was the one who was found dead after Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) house was burned down. But before the episode ended, Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) told Annalise that Wes was already dead before the fire. This opened up a new mystery for the show.

While fans are speculating about the events that transpired leading to the burning of the Keating house, the cast of the series teased several details about the second half of season 3.

According to actress Aja Naomi King, she initially thought that Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) was responsible for Wes' death. But she ultimately crossed out her theory.

"At this point, Annalise just has so many enemies, it could be any number of people," the actress who portrayed the role of Michaela Pratt said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, Weber speculated that none of Annalise's inner circle is responsible for the death of her most favorite student. "I think it's an outside party," the actor said in the same publication. "This is retribution toward Annalise for all the things that we've done, which Frank is certainly responsible for, in a lot of ways."

Enoch himself has a theory for the death of his character. According to the actor, Wes might have been killed by one of the members of the Mahoney family after he wrongfully accused his half-brother Charles (Wilson Bethel) of killing their father Wallace (Adam Arkin). His theory was supported by Karla Souza, who portrays Wes' girlfriend Laurel Castillo.

However, Matt McGorry believes that Annalise might also have a hand in Wes' death. "But that's just because I think that she ends up being sort of responsible for everything in some way," the actor who portrays the role of Asher Millstone stated.

Jack Falahee, on the other hand, had a different theory in mind. According to the actor who plays the role of Connor Walsh in the series, Wes could have killed himself and blew up Annalise's house because he cannot take everything anymore.

The truth will be unveiled once ABC airs the midseason premiere of "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 on Thursday, Jan. 19.
