'How to Get Away with Murder' season 3 spoilers, updates: Keating 5 plus 1? Mysteries, murder, conflict and Annalise's love interest make up 3rd season?
"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 will find Annalise Keating and the Keating Five embroiled in a mystery so unfathomable that even Viola Davis, who plays Annalise, doesn't have a clue what's going on.
Davis and her co-stars tried to crack the mysteries surrounding seasons 1 and 2 of the show on the set and were successful in doing so. This time around, they're having a hard time figuring out what season 3's mystery is about since showrunner Peter Nowalk has decided to make things so much harder for the cast to crack.
"Yeah, he's presenting a new mystery, and it's going to be presented very quickly in the first episode, which, by the way, we cannot figure out on the set," Davis revealed to Deadline. "This year we're totally stumped. But with that new mystery, he explores the relationships in a much deeper way."
Apparently, the mystery will be presented in the premiere episode of the third season and will pave the way for a deeper look into the characters' relationships, and possibly Annalise' new love interest.
In the same interview, Davis revealed that she and her Keating Five will be tackling several pro bono cases since she will be teaching other students at the university. There's also a possibility that Keating Five will welcome a new member into the group.
Speaking to TV Line, Nowalk hinted of a conflict between lovers Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) and Connor (Jack Falahee) concerning Oliver's desire to be part of Keating Five, something Connor is not too keen on.
"Oliver really wants to be folded into the group. He has a naughty side and he sees the fun in the dark," he explained, adding, "Does Annalise want him anywhere around her?"
Other angles that will be explored in "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 include Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Frank's (Charlie Weber) back stories, a closer look at Michaela's (Aja Naomi King) adopted family and the identity of Laurel's (Karla Souza) dad. The upcoming season will also adopt a "case-of-the-week" format.
Nowalk likewise told Entertainment Weekly that the murder of Wes' (Alfred Enoch) biological dad, who was shot during the season 2 finale, will be explored in season 3. Incidentally, three new faces will grace the third season of this courtroom action drama, which include "Dexter" alum Luna Vélez, "Grey's Anatomy's" Amy Madigan, and "NYPD Blue's" Esai Morales.
"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 is returning to the small screens on Thursday, Sept. 22, on ABC.
