HTC One X10 release date news: device to launch end of January, gets more downgrade than upgrade?
HTC's next flagship offering, the X10, will be released by the end of the month, according to mobile insider Evan Blass, who has a reliable track record when it comes to mobile leaks.
It is not a surprise that the new iteration will arrive this January seeing that its predecessor, the HTC One X9, was released the same month last year.
Blass revealed that the HTC One X10 will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD or high-definition display as what fans would expect of it.
The improvements come in the form of a 16.3-megapixel (MP) primary camera, which will replace the 13MP snapper on the HTC One X9. The selfie shooter of the upcoming flagship is at 7.9 megapixels, up from the 5MP from last year's model.
These will be the only upgrades that users can expect in the HTC One X10. As Blass puts it, "it's hard to qualify the X10 as an upgrade — it's very much a refresh." The tech company is choosing a less powerful processor to keep the lights on the flagship.
HTC is utilizing once again the octa-core MT6755V/C processor they used on the HTC Desire 10 Pro from last year. It will be clocked at 1.9GHz for the HTC One X10.
This chipset will work hand in hand with a Mali T860 graphics processing unit (GPU). The random-access memory (RAM), on the other hand, will remain at 3GB.
Other specifications and features to expect in the flagship include a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back of the HTC One X10 just below the primary camera.
As far as the design goes, HTC did a huge makeover on it. The back is much simpler than that of the previous iteration. There is no longer a sliver at the very top. Instead, the rear shooter is once again in the middle below simple "T" design above it.
