Following its most recent hiatus, could "Hunter X Hunter," the long-running Japanese manga series written and illustrated by manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi, be getting new writers?

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that "Hunter X Hunter" is going on another indefinite hiatus to give Togashi, who has been battling back pain, time to rest. Fans assumed that the manga will resume when Togashi has recuperated.

However, according to Movie News Guide, there may be a possibility that "Hunter X Hunter" will return under new leadership.

According to the website, there are rumors that the manga's producers are considering replacing Togashi with a team of new scriptwriters.

Shueisha is reportedly planning on hiring several new writers instead of just one as it would be difficult to match Togashi's input in the manga.

While the publisher risks altering the manga's creativity and tone by handing it over to new writers, the move would nonetheless ensure that "Hunter X Hunter" Chapter 361 arrives on schedule.

Last month, Kotaku reported that Togashi has been dealing with back pain, which may have been the reason for the manga's sudden breaks in publication.

In a statement to Rocket News 24, Shueisha confirmed that Togashi's worsening condition is behind the latest "Hunter X Hunter" hiatus.

"The last time the series was put on hold, it was because of Togashi-sensei's lower back pain, and once again, his condition has gotten worse, necessitating a break again," the publisher said. "At this time, it is not certain when we will be able to resume the series."

Meanwhile, another report from Movie News Guide indicates that Togashi could serve as consultant to the new writers of "Hunter X Hunter." This set-up would allow the "Hunter X Hunter" creator to rest his back while also making sure that the new writers stay faithful to the original tone and look of "Hunter X Hunter."

The current "Hunter X Hunter" hiatus is its second in two years. In August 2014, Shueisha released the manga's final chapter before the series went on a two-year hiatus. That hiatus ended in April this year.
