iMac 2016 release date, news, rumors: Model to be released in October with enhanced 5K display?

Many tech analysts and enthusiasts are expecting Apple to have a very busy year ahead of them. The Cupertino-based tech giant is reported to release the latest iPhone 7 and the new generation of the Apple Watch in a special press event of the company this September. Aside from their mobile devices, Apple is also rumored to unveil the new MacBook Pro and Mac Air this year. However, many are surprised upon the rumor that Apple may also release a new and improved version of the iMac in the coming months.

According to a report from 9 To 5 Mac, Apple will be unveiling the new iMac model this October. This will coincide with arrival of the 2016 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops. There is no confirmation from Apple as of the meantime regarding a separate event in October aside from the scheduled Sept. 7 press event, but it is highly speculated that the refresh on the Mac devices will be announced by the last quarter of this year. 

Moreover, iTech Post reported that the iMac will sport a few enhancements over its previous iteration. It is rumored that the device will likely get the latest GPUs from AMD, although it still not confirmed which graphics card it will utilize this time for a great visual treat. Nevertheless, this will offer the consumers with better screen display and video quality.

To recall, Apple already stopped the development of the 27-inch Thunderbolt Display earlier this year. Instead, Apple decided to sign a partnership deal with LG Electronics for the latter's high-resolution 5k standalone display. This appears to be a reasonable replacement for the impressive Thunderbolt display technology, especially for a standalone monitor like the iMac. The fans can expect that the new iMac will be sporting an enhanced 5K screen resolution display, but its over-all performance and other specs are all up in the air as Apple has not yet revealed their plans for the iMac.
