'Injustice 2' release date news: Latest gameplay trailer features Supergirl in action; combos and special moves revealed
"Injustice 2" is one of the most-awaited video games arriving next year, and a new gameplay trailer gives fans a first look at Supergirl in action.
With the last character reveal trailer released four months ago, news from the upcoming sequel has died down in the past few months. However, IGN recently unveiled a new gameplay video showcasing Supergirl's combos, special moves, and her finisher to give fans an idea of how the game will look like once it officially comes out next year. The clip proves that Superman's cousin is definitely no slouch when it comes to holding her own while fighting against bad guys.
In terms of Supergirl's skill set, fighting game lovers would immediately notice that the character has mid to long-range moves. Comicbook.com points out that most of the Girl of Steel's abilities cater to the kind of fighter that keeps his/her distance during matches. Supergirl has a very fast teleportation punch that easily kills off enemies, along with her ice breath and heat vision that can both be utilized effectively from a great distance.
The former Kryptonian's finishing move called "Asteroid Shower" is also a spectacle, as Supergirl hurls her opponent before killing him/her off by unleashing a torrent of heat energy coming from her eyes. The heat blast is used to shatter a massive asteroid that eventually rains down upon her enemy.
Popular heroes such as Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle are also joining the lineup for "Injustice 2," apart from the franchise mainstays Batman, Superman, the Flash, and Aquaman. DC villains who will be present in the upcoming game include Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Atrocitus, and Gorilla Grodd. The developer also announced that there are more characters to be introduced in the coming months.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, "Injustice 2" is scheduled to come out early 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
