NetherRealm Studios has not yet revealed any new information regarding its upcoming fighting video game sequel, "Injustice 2." The game, which will be released early next year, has been rumored to feature a lineup of new DC superheroes and villains, plus new exciting gameplay contents to make the sequel bigger and more thrilling than the first game title. Recent rumors suggest that a classic DC villain will be included in the "Injustice 2" lineup.

According to Event Hubs, the infamous Ra's al Ghul will be introduced as a playable character in the "Injustice" sequel. Known as the highly-skilled assassin leader, Ra's al Ghul has been featured in several DC media as the main antagonist, particularly in "The Dark Knight" film series and the DC comic-based TV series "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Arrow."

Yibada speculates that the last announcement trailer for "Injustice 2" could have already featured Ra's al Ghul as a voice-over. Moreover, Ra's al Ghul's role in the video game might be quite different as he is rumored to be Batman's ally instead, working together to take down Superman.

NetherRealm has yet to confirm or deny the rumor of Ra's al Ghul's inclusion in the roster, but the fans are nonetheless ecstatic to see such a classic comic book character in action in "Injustice 2."

On the other hand, "Injustice" game director Ed Boon has been teasing the fans with his Twitter posts about the much-awaited sequel. In fact, one of his recent tweets suggests that another DC villain, Captain Cold, will be joining the "Injustice 2" roster. Earlier, he posted a Twitter poll to know which among Captain Cold, Blue Beetle and Swamp Thing would the fans prefer to see in the sequel. Captain Cold received the lowest number of votes in the poll, although a most recent tweet from Boon shows an image of "Injustice 2" give-away t-shirt with Captain Cold's infamous weapon. This could mean that Boon would be pushing the arrival of Captain Cold in the game, although nothing is official just yet without NetherRealm's confirmation.

So far, the only confirmed playable characters in "Injustice 2" are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Aquaman, Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus, Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that NetherRealm Studios will be releasing a mobile version of "Injustice 2" shortly after the game's console launch. As reported by WCCF Tech, Boon's latest poll asking the fans if they would like to have a mobile app version of the game or an updated version of the first "Injustice" game. Most of the votes show the mobile game version winning, and the game studio might listen to the fans' request.
