If the latest rumors are anything to go by, the fans can expect more DC comic book superheroes and villains in NetherRealm Studio's upcoming fighting video game sequel, "Injustice 2."

Several names have been teased to be featured as playable characters in "Injustice 2." Some of the possible members of the roster include Captain Cold, Black Canary and Starfire. "Injustice: Gods Among Us" and "Mortal Kombat X" game director Ed Boon has been holding Twitter polls to know which characters would the fans like when they are introduced in "Injustice 2." So far, the latest poll does not show Captain Cold to have the highest votes, but Boon has also tweeted more "Injustice 2" teaser photos that include Captain Cold's infamous Cold Gun. The pictures could mean that in spite of Captain Cold's low votes, Boon might still add the comic book villain to the roster.

Another famous DC character, Jason Todd, may also be a part of the "Injustice 2" roster, basing on Boon's separate Twitter poll. Jason Todd was pitted against another DC villain, The Joker, but the former emerged as the fans' top pick on Twitter with 81%. Meanwhile, another character poll reported by the Gamespresso shows the character of Starfire, John Constantine and Black Manta being popular among the fans online. Starfire got a 43 percent score, while John Constantine and Black Manta received 32 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

Game N Guide reported that NetherRealm Studios might be introducing an RPG style gameplay in "Injustice 2," making the combats more interesting.

On the other hand, it is highly speculated that "Injustice 2" will be released sooner than expected. It was first reported that NetherRealm Studios targets a March 2017 release date for the sequel. According to the French game website Gameblog, the game has its tentative launch on March 2017, but there is still a chance that the PS4 and Xbox One versions might be released a bit earlier.
