'Injustice 2' release date, rumors: Game could include Ra's al Ghul
As of now, NetherRealm Studios is working on "Injustice 2," the follow-up to their hit DC fighting game, "Injustice: Gods Among Us." Some speculate that the game will actually include Batman villain Ra's al Ghul and it was already possibly hinted in the launch trailer.
The launch trailer came out back in June, but some fans have recently pointed out that the voiceover could be coming from the immortal villain himself. The trailer has the lines, "Each time I enter the pit, I emerge reborn." This could be a possible allusion to the "Lazarus Pit," the very thing that Ra's al Ghul uses to keep his immortality.
In the comics, Ra's took regular baths in the pit in order to restore his youth. His name means "The Demon's Head" and he has been running the League of Shadows for several decades.
Though not as popular as characters like the Joker and Two-Face, Ra's is considered to be one of Batman's fiercest enemies. He's calculated, highly skilled in combat, and manipulative. In his last appearance on the big screen, his character was portrayed by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight Rises."
"Rises" even had an allusion to Ra's' Lazarus Pit. Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) was left by Bane (Tom Hardy) weak and broken in a pit, but he emerged stronger than ever before. It wasn't exactly a tub of chemicals, but it was closely tied to the origin of Ra's.
Ra's inclusion in the game will make it the first time that he has ever been a playable character in a video game. Ra's appeared in the game, "Arkham City," but he was only there as an NPC.
It was even previously reported that this time around, he will be an ally to Batman as he helps him take down Superman.
"Injustice 2" is rumored to come out early 2017.
