iOS 8.3 Update and iOS 9 Update Release News: Public Beta Testing Set

Apple seems to have finally come to the conclusion that it needs to ramp up the quality of its operating system and deal with the bugs that have plagued iOS 8.

To achieve this, the company plans to release an update on its operating system, the third version of iOS 8.3 as a public beta. After this, Apple's next plan is for a public beta release of iOS 9.

While Apple has no plans to release iOS 8.2 next month via the public beta program, it is all set to launch its beta program for the third version of iOS 8.3 just as it releases the update to developers.

Both the beta releases will be made through the company's AppleSeed program with iOS 8.3 sometime in the middle of March and the iOS 9 debuting sometime in the summer. This move to put the upcoming iOS updates through a public beta program is being described as a "shock" move by the company.

News of the upcoming public beta programs for the iOS originated from 9to5Mac which stated that Apple planned them following the good response to the beta program for OS X Yosemite, which took place sometime before its official release in October of last year.

About one million people were included in the beta program for OS X Yosemite. This same group will be provided with an "early look" at the upcoming OS X 10.10.3 update. However, Apple is planning to only include about 100,000 people in the beta program for iOS 8.3 and iOS 9.

The first version of iOS 8.3 landed with developers earlier this month. It features enhancements for Siri and a simpler process for signing into Google services. As for the second 8.3 beta, developers will get it sometime next week.

9to5Mac also stated that people who participate in the public beta programs will be able to report any bugs they encounter via a dedicated app to Apple.
