iPad Mini 5 release date and specs rumors: Will the device be released in March 2017?
A lot of Apple users online have been waiting for an announcement about the iPad Mini 5. The Mini 4 was announced September last year but so far, there hasn't been any news of its successor.
MacWorld.co.uk pooled together all the rumors and news that have been popping up online. The site tried to guess when Apple will eventually reveal its plans for the iPad Mini 5. Most of the previous iPad Minis were released in October, following the annual launch of a new iPhone in September. The iPad Mini 4, however, was announced with the new iPhones back in September 2015.
Some fans speculated that the device may come to the market by March 2017.
As for the design, the new iPad Mini is rumored to use Series 7000 aluminum, which is the same material used for the iPhone 6S. The device is said to be 5 millimeters thick. The new casing will be helpful because it's said to be stiffer and lighter than lower grade aluminum.
Other features also include 3D touch, just like in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. It is said to be able to determine the pressure applied to the screen, and as a result, it can offer different options for the user. The iPad Mini 5 is also said to include IP68 protection as well as an Apple Pencil.
The standard storage for the device is rumored to be 32 GB and the processor is expected to be the Apple A9 processor and the M9 motion co-processor.
No official news has come from Apple regarding the iPad Mini 5's official release date, but some are holding out that more information will be leaked as 2016 trudges on. Readers should take these rumors with a grain of salt until these are officially confirmed by Apple.
