Galaxy S6 Edge. left, versus iPhone 6, right. | SAMSUNG/APPLE

The Galaxy S6 Edge is without doubt a stunning device with a cool curved screen. Reports indicate that it has topped the iPhone 6 in terms of speed. Here's how the two devices compare.

Design

The Galaxy S6 Edge effortlessly wins in terms of design as it has a lovely curved screen that flows over it right and left edges. It also boasts of a premium aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass 4 on its front and back panel. The curved portion on the device displays news alerts, glows with different colors when calls come in, and can even be used to show images of important contacts. Coming to the iPhone 6, it has all the hallmarks of a premium device including a unibody aluminum frame and beautifully rounded edges. Otherwise it is pretty lackluster compared to the S6 Edge.

Display

The display on the Galaxy S6 Edge is super sharp and bigger, all thanks to its super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches which has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. The iPhone 6 has a smaller IPS LCD measuring 4.7 inches with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and a density of 326 pixels per inch, which is sufficient for most users but pales in comparison to the resolution of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Specs

Even before the unveiling of the Galaxy S6 Edge, a number of benchmark tests had already shown that the device was much faster than the iPhone 6. This was largely attributed to Samsung's use of its own Exynos 7420 chipset on the S6 Edge. The chipset has a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760 GPU. The iPhone 6 comes with Apple A8 chipset, a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz and PowerVR GX6450 GPU.

Memory

Both devices don't have memory slots; hence, external storage cannot be added. As for RAM, there is a major difference as the iPhone 6 has 1 GB while the S6 Edge has 3 GB.

Price

The 16 GB iPhone costs $649 without a contract, while the 32 GB version of the S6 Edge could cost anywhere between $800 and $850.
