iPhone 7S release date, specs news: to be released as Apple's mid-range variant next year
More recent reports believe that Apple will not skip the iPhone 7S line next year. It is expected to be released as a mid-range or lower-end iPhone variants along with the iPhone 8.
The report came from the research notes of the reputable analyst from KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst practically suggests that there could be three iPhone variants to be released next year.
Apple is expected to release another set of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch mobile devices, same as the current variants under the iPhone 7 release. These are now dubbed as the future iPhone 7S. However, it will not sport organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels and will remain with the liquid crystal display (LCD) screens.
The speculated iPhone 7S variants are believed to be introduced as entry-level options for new Apple customers, meaning, they will be offered at a relatively price point. However, these iPhone 7S variants will only comprise 30 to 35 percent of the total iPhone line shipments for next year.
Meanwhile, Apple is expected to push through with the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) plans and will ship it to the higher-end option dubbed the iPhone 8. Naturally, it will be released at a higher cost and will comprise 50 to 55 percent of Apple's product shipment for the iPhone line next year.
The mid-range 5.5-inch iPhone 7S and iPhone 8, which is expected to have a screen that measure between 5.1 and 5.2 inches, will sport a dual-lens rear camera. The same cannot be said for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7S.
If it turns out the Apple will release just one variant with an OLED panel, it can be said that they might not face the dilemma of limited OLED panel supplies as earlier reported.
The iPhone 7S and iPhone 8 products are expected to be released sometime in the second half of 2017.
