Many tech enthusiasts are now anticipating the next iteration of the iPhone handset next year. It is believed that the iPhone 8 will boast a revolutionary design plus an impressive lineup of specs, being released during the tenth anniversary of the iPhone flagship.

According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 8 is slated for a late 2017 release. Based on the previous release schedule of Apple for their iPhone devices, it is possible that the iPhone 8 will be released sometime in September or October next year.

Another possibility is that the iPhone 8 will be released in three different variants. This is new since the previous iPhone models have featured at least two variants, the base model and the top-tier version. For the iPhone 8, it is possible that there will be an iPhone 8 Plus variant with a special LCD screen. However, there will be another variant of the iPhone 8 Plus version but using the new OLED screen display.

According to BGR, it is getting more likely that the big switch to OLED screen for the iPhone 8 will happen next year. The company itself has made a move that would suggest that their future devices, the iPhone 8 included, will make use of OLED display aside from the usual LDC screens. Apple's latest huge deal as shown in their recent Securities and Exchange Commission 10-K filing reveals the huge amount of OLED panels that they have purchased.

Like the iPhone 7 Plus smartphone, both versions of the iPhone 8 Plus are expected to boast dual lens camera as well. The base model of the iPhone 8, on the other hand, will have the usual 4.7-inch LCD screen with single lens rear camera.

However, Tech Radar also picked up the possibility of the high-end iPhone 8 variants to be released sometime in 2018. For now, it is advised to take these early rumors with a grain of salt until Apple finally confirms the details.
