Rogelio (Jamie Camil) will have a new telenovela in the upcoming "Jane the Virgin" season 3. However, getting the part will have its challenges.

In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman said that in the next season of the series, Rogelio's telenovela will end and he will find a new project.

"They will be trying to adapt 'The Passions of Santos' into an American show called 'The Passions of Steve'and Rogelio is going to be fighting for his part in it," Urman said.

"That's a storyline I'm really excited to get into, talk about the crossover and what does that mean," she continued. Urman also said that the theme of escapism will be at play in this "Jane the Virgin" season 3 storyline.

"When you have a character like Rogelio, a lot of his journey is about escapism," Urman explained. "If I want to make any statement I can put it into his time-travel telenovela where he's inspiring the women's suffrage in a sexy way and I can give a little bit of 'this silly right,'" she added.

Urman believes that telling such story through Rogelio will make learning about a serious theme less dull than watching her sit and talk about it for hours.

Apart from his job, Rogelio will also have to deal with matters of the heart in "Jane the Virgin" season 3 when he learns that Xo (Andrea Navedo) is pregnant with Esteban's (Keller Wortham) child.

It is extra heartbreaking for him simply because Xo did not want to be with him, but now she has a baby with the man he considers his greatest nemesis.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will surely be very problematic for Rogelio. As for Jane (Gina Rodriguez), this will be the season she loses her virginity.

It remains a mystery when that will happen since the focus is still on the situation of Michael (Brett Dier), who was shot just minutes after tying the knot with Jane.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 premieres Monday, Oct. 17 on The CW.
