A new writer/executive producer has joined "Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. Meanwhile, season 2 of the Marvel–Netflix series will be featuring more of the people surrounding Jessica (Krysten Ritter).

"Jessica Jones" season 2 will not be happening soon, as it is giving way to "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" to launch first. Plot details remain scarce, but Deadline reports that the showrunner of HBO's "True Blood," "The Returned," and CW's "Supernatural," Raelle Tucker, has been tapped to join Rosenberg on "Jessica Jones" season 2.

Tucker is actually a replacement for Liz Friedman, who left "Jessica Jones" to work on her ABC pilot, "Conviction." But Rosenberg and Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, shared their gratitude and excitement to have Tucker on board, adding that season 2 will definitely come out rocking.

Meanwhile, Rosenberg plans to explore other characters' storylines in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

The showrunner shared during an interview that she had difficulty exploring other characters' storylines because of how the show needed to be centered around Ritter's Jessica. But moving on to season 2, there will be more flexibility when it comes to featuring the people around Jessica Jones.

There are also rumors circulating that Rachel Taylor's Patsy Walker will develop into her own superhero in "Jessica Jones" season 2 known as Hellcat. Rosenberg said that Patsy is one of her favorite characters on the show, but she didn't confirm if this will happen for the character's story arc in season 2.

"She's one of the characters that I'm looking forward to exploring, and pushing to new territory, and the world is our oyster on that one. We can go anywhere we want with it and there's a lot of mythology behind her," Rosenberg explained.

But if Rosenberg will make Taylor's character into Hellcat, the actress has already expressed her excitement to play her own Marvel superhero, according to CBR.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to debut in 2018 on Netflix.
