'Jessica Jones' season 2 release date, news, spoilers: Next season to premiere sooner than expected?

The highly awaited season 2 of "Jessica Jones" might come sooner than expected. Meanwhile, fans can expect to see a more explosive heroine in season 2.

The first season of "Jessica Jones," featuring Krysten Ritter as the badass heroine, aired in November 2015 on Netflix. The show was confirmed for a second season, but premiere details have not yet been released.

It is anticipated that "Jessica Jones" season 2 will be released later rather than sooner, based on the lineup of Marvel shows that Netflix has in store.

"Daredevil" was the first Marvel superhero series that Netflix aired in 2015. It was followed by season 1 of "Jessica Jones." After that, "Luke Cage" debuted this year, while "Iron Fist," "The Defenders," and "The Punisher" will all be showing in 2017. This lineup pushes the probability of "Jessica Jones" season 2 to a 2018 premiere.

But according to Moviepilot, there might be a possibility that the show will air sooner.

An unofficial Facebook page for Netflix found in Latin America released a list containing release dates of the Network's shows and their future projects. "Jessica Jones" was among the shows under the 2016 to 2017 period.

Although it's possible that "Jessica Jones" will just start production in 2017, it is still possible that Netflix changed its schedule of Marvel shows for next year.

Meanwhile, it is expected that Jessica will return as a more powerful and fearless heroine in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

In a previous interview with Esquire, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg shared that the trauma that Jessica has experienced will be carried on to her personality.

Season 2 will see Jessica moving forward to better things, but according to Rosenberg, "People don't just heal, you don't go through that just to say, 'Oh, he got arrested, he's in jail, I'm OK now. That trauma is a huge part of who she is now."

"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to premiere in 2018.
