Jill Duggar pregnant in El Salvador? Derrick Dillard addresses wife's pregnancy rumors
Jill Duggar from "19 Kids and Counting" reality show was rumored pregnant after her husband, Derrick Dillard, seemingly hinted at it. Dillard's response to one of his Twitter followers who asked when they were going to announce Duggar's pregnancy had been "not sure yet."
His tweet came as a surprise, since he is not usually responsive to social media messages. His answer was also too vague that it was not really clear whether he meant they were not sure if Duggar was pregnant or not sure when the best time was to announce it.
After his brief message, another fan posted a new question which pointedly asked if Duggar was pregnant.
The Twitter user with the handle @GirlSmile5 asked, "@derick4Him is Jill pregnant?"
This time it was clear what Duggar's condition really is at the moment, with Dillard's short reply being, "@GrilSmile5 no, not yet."
Thus, it ended the speculations on Duggar's pregnancy. Still, this probably comes as little comfort to the couple's relatives and friends alike because, for some months now, the couple has been overseas along with their little boy, Israel.
They are currently living in El Salvador doing missionary work. El Salvador's health ministry has told women in the country to refrain from getting pregnant in the next two years in the light of the Zika virus threat. This is why their family as well as their fans have been worried when rumors of Duggar's pregnancy came out. The virus is mosquito-borne and can cause a birth defect called microcephaly (an abnormally small head) in babies born from infected pregnant women. Other abnormalities including mental retardation accompany the characteristic as well.
If Duggar does get pregnant while the couple is in the region, it may be a big risk considering the country's first case of Zika-linked microcephaly was only just confirmed Wednesday, June 15.
There is a valid reason for concern as the Duggar–Dillard family do not believe in birth control, hence the Duggars' now-defunct reality show, "19 Kids and Counting."
