"Justice League" is in post-production and the superhero team-up movie is on track to premiere in theaters in late 2017. Unfortunately, fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) will have to wait for a long time before they get to feast their eyes on the film's sequel. According to the latest reports, "Justice League 2" has been delayed to make way for Ben Affleck's first standalone "Batman" movie.

The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that after wrapping up filming for "Justice League," director Zack Snyder will now be working on the "The Last Photograph" instead of working on "Justice League 2" right away. The shuffle in the DCEU's lineup allowed Snyder to work on the thriller that tells the story of a war correspondent in Afghanistan who is the only survivor of an attack on a group of Americans. The film has been in development since 2011.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that "Justice League" would act as a standalone film and would no longer be a two-part installment that is tethered to the second "Justice League" film. Nevertheless, Snyder told IGN that a sequel was still on track.

Based on the lineup of DCEU, "Justice League 2" was initially supposed to premiere on June 14, 2019. This could now be the release date for the upcoming "Batman" movie. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Pictures has penciled an "Untitled DC Film" for Nov. 1, 2019. This is now believed to be the new release date for the "Justice League" sequel. However, Warner Bros. has yet to officially confirm this.

Previous reports stated that the "Batman" movie would begin filming sometime next year. Aside from starring in the lead role, Affleck also serves as the director of the standalone movie. Furthermore, Affleck and DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns will co-write the script of the film.

Actor Joe Manganiello who will be playing the villain Deathstroke told Entertainment Tonight in October that he was "getting ready to go shoot Batman in the spring."

"Justice League" is slated to arrive in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017. No official release date has been announced for "Justice League 2."
