'Kate Plus 8' season 6 news: Kate on single-parenting 8 kids; Jon 'very upset' over Kate's comments
"Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin recently spoke about what it's like raising her teenaged and preteen kids, saying that it's almost as hard as when the sextuplets were babies and she had to care for them mostly on her own.
In a recent interview with People, Kate, who returned to the small screen with her eight children this week, opened up about the hardships of raising two 16-year-olds and six 12-year-olds. According to the TLC star, having to manage her children now is almost as challenging as when she was doing the same during her sextuplets' first year of life.
"It rivals that first year for the first time ever," she said, adding that she relies on memories of surviving that first year for encouragement and inspiration. According to Kate, in order to keep herself from falling apart, she has to tell herself, "You do have the strength, you've travelled some hard yards already. You can do this — you've made it through tough stuff before."
"Kate Plus 8," which used to be titled "Jon & Kate Plus 8," chronicles the lives of Kate and her eight children with ex-husband Jon Gosselin. It debuted when now-12-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah were babies and now-16-year-olds Cara and Mady were tots. After Kate and Jon divorced in 2009, the show's title was renamed and Jon appeared less frequently.
In a statement released to Us Weekly, Jon's lawyer said the former reality star is "very upset" over the comments his ex-wife has been making about their son Collin. This was in reaction to Kate's interview on Monday's episode of "Good Morning America," during which she confirmed that Collin is in a live-in learning facility for his behavioral issues. Kate said that the decision to place Collin there was "necessary" and implied that Jon does not know where his son is.
"I've known all along where he is, but the world doesn't know... and I'll leave it at that," Kate said.
According to Jon's lawyer, while Jon is bound by court order to refrain from speaking about his children, he is "very upset by certain statements made to the press ... [and feels] the whole story is not being told."
Earlier this month, Jon told Entertainment Tonight that his ex-wife has refused to tell him where Collin is.
"Kate Plus 8" season 6 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
