"Kingdom Hearts 3" is one of the most-anticipated games scheduled to come out in Japan despite not having any release date as of yet, which is a testament to the kind of interest it generates from the gaming community. Fortunately, Tetsuya Nomura has recently come out of his busy schedule to update fans on the progress in terms of development for the game.

In an exclusive sit-down with Japanese media outlet Famitsu, which was picked up by a couple of other press sites, the veteran gaming director who is among the helmers of "Kingdom Hearts 3" reveals that production is going on well. However, he could not give any specifics regarding the work that is currently being done as it involves new dimensions that have yet to debut in the series.

"The production process is different than what we've had up until now, so I can't just give you a general idea, but I can say that there are worlds that still remain untouched," he admitted. "We've advanced on the production of worlds that have yet to be announced, so we can't show them for now. As far as development status goes, there's still a ways to go."

Obviously, the folks working for Square Enix are taking a bit more time in developing these new worlds given that they need more attention to detail as they start from relatively scratch. That being said, it does not mean that they will not incorporate nodes from previously introduced worlds.

Despite having to wait for a bit more for the "Final Fantasy" and Disney characters mash-up title, fans can busy themselves with a slew of other properties tied to the franchise. This includes "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8," which rolls out in a few days worldwide after its earlier release in Japan.

"We have Final Fantasy VII's snow exhibit at the Snow Festival in Sapporo in February, and in March we have the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix and the start of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour. We might also be able to do something at Disney's 'D23' event. We're also waiting on the start of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ's second season," Nomura added, naming other projects already in the can for them proving that there is no shortage of content for their loyal fanbase.
