'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' release date, latest news: Lead actor shares details about 'Kingsman' sequel
After the surprising critical and commercial success of "Kingsman: The Secret Service," many fans of the spy thriller genre are looking forward to the upcoming release of its film sequel, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," this year.
With all the excitement regarding the upcoming return of the Kingsmen, many are eager to learn as many details as possible about what to expect from the film sequel. At the moment, there is no better person to ask details about the next "Kingsman" movie than its lead actor himself.
In an interview with Den of Geek UK about the UK release of "Sing," "Kingsman" lead actor Taron Egerton was also asked to discuss details about "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." The actor was forthcoming in speaking about the opportunities for political satire by setting the film sequel in the United States. Such a move would be unsurprising considering how the first film mocked legitimate fears of people about over-population by presenting an extreme solution to the problem.
On how the degree of extreme satire could continue in "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," Egerton said: "I think it very much is political. I think I can say there's a 'presidential' thread that runs through the new film. I think that, each time, whenever there's a new global threat that arises in the world of Kingsman, it will be something that may have genuine relevance. In the first one, I guess we could say it's over-population, and in this one, it's a similarly pertinent global theme. But I think you're right. It's a warped, distorted presentation of politics, but I think the themes are definitely there."
According to Comicbook, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is directed by Matthew Vaughn, with Dave Gibbons, Jane Goldman, and Mark Millar as its writers. The movie also features a star-studded cast, including Taron Egerton, Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Mark Strong, Halley Berry, Vinnie Jones, and Sophie Cookson.
"Kingman: The Golden Circle" is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 6, 2017.
