'Lara Croft GO' news update: Popular mobile game now available for PlayStation 4, Vita, and PC
During the opening ceremony of the PlayStation Experience 2016 this December, Sony officially announced the launch of the popular mobile game "Lara Croft GO" on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita. The game was also made available for PC users on Steam on Dec. 4.
Game enthusiasts could note that this is not the first time that Square Enix, the developer and publisher of "Lara Croft GO," transformed one of its mobile games into a console and PC game. For example, "Hitman GO," after receiving both critical and commercial success on iOS and Android, transitioned to the PlayStation ecosystem in February.
"Lara Croft GO" is a high-quality themed puzzle game developed by Square Enix Montreal. The game was launched for the iOS and Android in 2015. It garnered positive reviews, and it praised for its thought-provoking puzzles as well as its simple and clean art style. Hence, the move to transition the game to the PlayStation console and PC systems is unsurprising.
In "Lara Croft GO," Lara must use her wits and weapons as she enters dangerous chasms which are filled with mystery, artifacts, and hazards. Composed of seven chapters and 115 puzzles, players must contend against Lara's enemies and get past life-threatening obstacles and traps. Ultimately, players must aid Lara in uncovering the myth of the Queen Venom.
As reported by Polygon, the PlayStation version of the game contains a brand new expansion, "Mirror of Spirits," which is developed by indie studio Ko_op. However, the "Mirror of Spirits" expansion will remain a PlayStation exclusive for the next three months. Hence, the PC version of Steam, which is also now available, won't be equipped with the expansion until then.
"Lara Croft GO" is currently available for the PS4 and the PS Vita, as well as the PC on Steam, for $9.99. The release features all of the original content of the game. Transitions to additional platforms will reportedly be announced at a later date.
