"Law & Order Special Victims Unit (SVU)", the hard-hitting and gritty police procedural that's now on its 16th season, is bound to once again get viewers' interest and angst as Episode 5 of Season 16 airs this Wednesday, Oct. 22, on NBC.

This is bound to happen as the SVU detectives do their best to bring to light the facts behind the sexual assault issue featured in "Pornstar's Requiem," which is Episode 5 of the season.

With last week's Episode 4 having Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) back again in SVU, after being earlier re-assigned to take on unit duties as a traffic cop because of anger management concerns, the focus of the internal tension in the squad room for this episode shifts to Sgt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Det. Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish).

Benson is mightily annoyed with Rollins when, during the course of the featured investigation, Rollins belatedly mentions information vital to the case being investigated. Benson cast a weighted parting shot of "no more surprises" at Rollins, as the latter and the rest of the team-- Detective Odafin Tutuola (played by Ice-T) and Detective Sonny Carisi (played by Peter Scanavino) -- leave to continue their work.

Meanwhile, counterpointing such tension is the central storyline of the episode: a college freshman named Evie Barnes (played by guest star Hannah Marks) unwittingly becomes a porn star. She later accuses her classmates of raping her after they allegedly blurred the line between fantasy and reality.

As is often the case with victims of sexual assault, abuse, or harassment, the weight of proving innocence or guilt falls squarely upon Evie's shoulders. This is the case notwithstanding the fact that the victim is not supposed to be the one on trial.

What complicates things is that the sexual assault charge is so difficult to prove that even the detectives themselves are not having an easy time.
