The second half of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, which will begin later this month, will be all about the Spear of Destiny, which is the Legion of Doom will do anything just to get their hands on it.

In the midseason premiere, "Raiders of the Lost Art," the Waverider crew will discover that Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) or at least a version of him from 1967, has the all-powerful knick-knack.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently spoke to TVLine about the Spear of Destiny and how it will influence the rest of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.

"The second half of the season is really paying off the Legion of Doom and what we now know is the MacGuffin of Season 2, the Spear of Destiny," he said.

Describing the sought-after item, Guggenheim said, "Changing time is like painting with the biggest paintbrush possible; using the Spear of Destiny is like using a very, very fine-point technical pen."

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will be back with episode 9, which will feature a young version of "Star Wars" creator, George Lucas, to be played by Matt Angel.

It looks like he and Rip, who was revealed to be an American director in this timeline, know each other. He does not remember the group due to a so-called "time drift." The Legends will come across Lucas, who ends up quitting film school.

This means that he never makes the cult-favorite space opera "Star Wars" and another one of his iconic works, "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark." It will be up to Sara (Caity Lotz) and company to make sure this does not happen in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, episode 9.

"As a result, Ray, who became an engineer because of Star Wars, and Nate, who became a historian because of Raiders, slowly start to lose their brilliance, because those things that inspired them to become who they are didn't exist," Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly of what the effects of the aberration in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, episode 9.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 returns Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
