A timeline where George Lucas never made "Star Wars" or "Raiders of the Lost Ark" will be explored on the upcoming episode of The CW's hit superhero series "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.

"Grimm" star Matt Angel has been recently tapped to join the series to play a younger version of George Lucas for the upcoming ninth episode. Titled "Raiders of the Lost Art," the midseason premiere revolves around a time aberration that causes Lucas to drop out of film school. This results in Lucas never making his classic films — which will deeply affect the Legends, specifically Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained that the time aberration in the upcoming episode leads to Lucas quitting film school. This will have a huge effect on Lucas' superfans, Ray and Nate, because his films inspired them to pursue their respective careers.

"As a result, Ray, who became an engineer because of 'Star Wars,' and Nate, who became a historian because of 'Raiders,' slowly start to lose their brilliance," the EP said, "because those things that inspired them to become who they are didn't exist," he added.

Reports say that episode 9 brings a different flavor compared to the storylines tackled earlier in the season. Describing the episode as one of the most ambitious that the show has made, Guggenheim teased that "Raiders of the Lost Art" will make fans laugh out loud as they watch Ray and Nate come to terms with the loss of their idol's most popular works.

"209 is either going to be the episode where we'll say that the show found a new gear in terms of how zany it can be, or it's the episode that's going to get us all fired," he continued. The EP went on to compare the plot to a "'70s bar fight on steroids," stressing how it is in "that level of crazy."

The second season of "Legends of Tomorrow" returns on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
