'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers, news: Wentworth Miller teases Captain Cold's arrival; Matthew MacCaull returns as Commander Steel
Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) unleashes his evil side when "Legends of Tomorrow" returns for the back half of season 2.
After risking his own life to save the Legends in season 1, Captain Cold, also known as Leonard Snart, will soon make his comeback in the show as one of the bad guys. Viewers will see Snart in a different light when he joins Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), and Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher) in the Legion of Doom.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Miller teased that his character will possibly be taken by the Legion during an earlier time. "My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he's a straight up villain," Miller said during the TCA winter press tour. "He hasn't gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again... I imagine that he's going to be much like when we first met him the first season on 'The Flash,' which I'm looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place," the actor went on to say.
Also making a comeback this season is "iZombie" star Matthew MacCaull, who is reprising his role as Commander Steel. The actor was spotted filming scenes with co-star Arthur Darvill in downtown Vancouver last week. According to YVRShoots, the behind-the-scenes photos of the duo were captured when they were filming for an upcoming episode titled "Moonshot."
Fans can recall that Henry Heywood, also known as Commander Steel, is Nate's (Nick Zano) grandfather. He first appeared in the series' season 2 premiere, alongside fellow Justice Society of America members Dr. Mid-Nite (Kwesi Ameyaw), Stargirl (Sarah Grey), Obsidian (Dan Payne), and Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). He was last seen in season 2 episode 2.
The second season of "Legends of Tomorrow" returns on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
