'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers, plot news: series taking inspiration from 'Indiana Jones'; to feature George Lucas
When "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 returns to the small screen, it will bring along an individual that pop culture fans know and love.
"Star Wars" creator George Lucas will be featured in the latter half of the season, according to actress Caity Lotz during a Fan Fest chat.
How this will work was teased in the midseason finale of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, where Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) was revealed to be in the 1960s, filming a movie about himself and spoke with an American accent.
It is speculated that whatever Rip is working on will have something to do with Lucas' magnum opus, which is "Star Wars" although "Indiana Jones" is more likely.
Looking at the titles of upcoming "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 episodes, it would seem that "Indiana Jones" will be the inspiration for it.
The first one is "Raiders of the Lost Art" to be followed up by "The Legion Doom," which, while it references the big bad of the season, also plays with the title of the second film in the franchise, "Temple of Doom."
Rip Hunter has been gone for quite a while after he saved everyone else during as they stopped Damien Darkh (Neal McDonough) from nuking New York City, leaving the legends on their own with Sara Lance (Lotz) taking over as their leader.
Meanwhile, the latter half of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will also make sense of the Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher) storyline and how it bleeds into "The Flash," where the character first appeared.
"We are going to find out shortly on Legends of Tomorrow just how this Eobard links into the Eobard from The Flash, where he's coming from, and more importantly, where he's going to after this," Letscher teased to Entertainment Weekly.
The site pointed out that this Reverse Flash is not one from a different Earth, especially since he knows about Stein (Victor Garber), who was part of Team Flash in the first season of "The Flash."
"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will premiere Thursday, Jan. 24, on The CW.
