'Legion' release date, spoilers: FX series premieres in February 2017, new trailer released
"Legion" has finally landed a premiere date on FX. Alongside the official air date, a new trailer was also released which previews the highly-anticipated drama series.
The upcoming series based on the mutant character Legion from Marvel Comics will premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at 10 p.m. EST. The first season will run for eight episodes.
"Legion" was created by Noah Hawley with Lauren Shuler Donner, Brian Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jim Chory, John Cameron, and Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb serving as executive producers.
"Marvel Television is thrilled to not only have our first partnership with FX go to series, but working with the enormously talented Noah Hawley makes it even better," said Loeb, adding, "From the first time we heard Noah's vision to this exceptional script and cast through the extraordinary filming of the pilot, we knew this series would be incredible."
Based on the official synopsis, "Legion" will tell the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens) who is "a troubled young man who may be more than human."
David has spent most of his life in and out of psychiatric hospitals after having been diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child. Now at 30 years old, he is once again committed to the hospital. This time, though, David's life changes as he is drawn to a beautiful yet troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). It is their connection that leads David to the startling discovery that the voices and visions in his mind might actually be real.
As David escapes the hospital, Syd introduces him to Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a therapist with unconventional methods. She and her team of specialists will introduce David to a new an extraordinary new world of possibilities.
Joining Stevens, Keller and Smart in the cast are Aubrey Plaza as fellow patient Lenny Busker and Katie Aselton as David's sister Amy. Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin and Amber Midthunder also star as Bird's specialists.
