'Lethal Weapon' season 1 episode 11 spoilers: Riggs and Murtaugh to bring a conclave of corrupt cops down in 'Lawmen'

Capt. Avery (Kevin Rahm) will have a lot to answer to when the seemingly harmless head of the Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) detective bureau gets embroiled in the dirty-cop case that the troublesome duo, Riggs (Clayne Crawford) and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) will be investigating in the next episode of "Lethal Weapon."

Appropriately titled "Lawmen," episode 11 will be pitting Riggs and Murtaugh against their own peers in the L.A. Sheriff's Department after evidences on the death of a Texas Ranger hint at a possible misuse of authority. With their combined sleuthing skills, and perhaps their occasional disregard for protocol as well, the two of them will be able to pinpoint the culprit, only to be surprised by what they discover about their very own captain's past.

The upcoming episode may put men in uniform in a very unflattering light, but it could also provide Riggs and Murtaugh with some perspective to define their own moral boundaries as men of the law. But chasing down murdering corrupt cops could also prove dangerous and may well antagonize Riggs and Murtaugh from the rest of their own brood.

However, this doesn't seem to slow the duo down as shown in the official trailer for the next episode. When Riggs asks his partner how he would want to get things done, Murtaugh replies, "Delicate," and Riggs obligingly drives their car right into what looks to be a gathering of these corrupt cops, as "delicately" as a wrecking ball.

What could Capt. Avery be hiding, though, and how will this affect his dynamics with Riggs and Murtaugh and the rest of his department in the long run? Will he be able to present a valid reason for his past actions, or will Riggs and Murtaugh lose their trust in him for good? Is his dark secret something that is contained in the past, or does it persist at present?

"Lethal Weapon" season 1 episode 11 will air on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
