The LG G3, LG's flagship device last year, was made from plastic that was made to look like metal to give it a semblance of a premium look. This year, the company decided to encase in leather the plastic body of its brand-new LG G4 phone. Here is a comparison between the two phones.
Design
The LG G3 looks pretty much unremarkable and could be difficult to distinguish from other smartphones displayed in stores. With the G4, however, LG made sure its phone will stand out. Its latest flagship phone has a "SlimArc" design extending from top to bottom. As for the default back panel, it is crafted from polycarbonate and comes in three colors. There are also leather versions available that are dyed with natural colors and have a pronounced stitch running down their middle.
Display
When it comes to display, the LG G3 and the LG G4 are alike. Both have a True HD LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch.
Specs
The big difference between the two devices lies in their specs. The LG G4 improves over its predecessor and comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, along with a hexa-core CPU with two Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores and an Adreno 418 GPU. The LG G3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, a quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
Both devices have memory slots and each can be used to add up to 128 GB of external memory. Coming to RAM, the LG G3 has a version with 2 GB and another with 3 GB. The LG G4 comes with 3 GB RAM.
Camera
The rear camera on the LG G4 is a 16 megapixel version, which is superior to the 13 megapixel version on its predecessor.
Price
The LG G3 is priced at $149 with a two-year contract while the LG G4 costs $768 at full retail but could be available at $199 with a two-year contract.
