LG Watch Urbane LTE Specs, Price and Features Review: Device Ditches Android Wear, Includes NFC and 1GB RAM

LG has stolen the thunder from Apple Watch, announcing that it will release the LG Watch Urbane LTE at the Mobile World Congress 2015 next week in Barcelona, Spain.

The watch will not run Android Wear, which is present in the LG Watch Urbane, and instead will come with the LG Wearable Platform, which is akin to the webOS that the company uses on its smart televisions.

In a press release, LG announced more details about its smartwatch, revealing that it will have almost the same design as the super stylish LG Watch Urbane, which it announced earlier. That particular device got raves from reviewers and the general public who described it as an "Apple Watch" killer.

With the announced release of the LG Watch Urbane LTE next week, the company has proven that it has another trick up its sleeve. In its press release for the watch, LG described it as the "world's first LTE-enabled smartwatch." The smartwatch is also NFC-enabled and therefore can be used to make payments.

One major feature of the watch is that it will operate just like a smartphone, allowing the wearer to make and receive calls and text messages. Since it will also include support from a carrier, the watch will be able to use the push-to-talk, or PTT, function to communicate with other devices using the carrier's signal. Moreover, when used as a walkie-talkie, it will not be constricted by range.

The smartwatch has a stylish and sophisticated design. It will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, 4GB onboard storage and 1GB RAM. It will also have a 700mAh battery, nine-axis biosensor including a barometer, heart rate monitor and GPS. The LG Watch Urbane LTE will also feature three physical buttons on its side which are designed to provide easy access to features and functions without the user having to swipe through a number of screens.
