'Longmire' season 5 release date, spoilers news: New sneak peek at Vic and Walt revealed

There's a little over a month left before "Longmire" season 5 arrives, but cast member Katee Sackhoff helped ease the agonizing wait of fans with a sneak peek at the upcoming season.

The star, who plays Vic Moretti in the series, shared a photo taken by Danny Denn of her and co-star Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire as they prepare to close in on a location, both of them guns at the ready.

"So close yet seems so far away," the actress wrote in the caption, adding that the "Longmire" season 5 premiere on Sept. 23 "can't come soon enough."

Plot-wise, there's not much to take away from the photo with regard to how the new season of the hit series will look like, but CarterMatt points out that fans might be getting a lot of Vic and Walt team-ups this season.

There was less of Vic and Walt in the previous season as the latter pushed away the former. Vic confronted him by the end of the season. Although it is impossible to tell by the photo that things will be different after that confrontation, "Longmire" season 5 still promises interaction between the two.

There have been a lot of rumors about Vic and Walt. According to reports, the characters will end up together despite the fact that the latter is currently with Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker). 

In the novels by Craig Johnson that the show is based on, Vic and Walt end up together. It is expected that the show will follow that, although it is unclear if it will be set up in "Longmire" season 5.

There were even rumors that Vic and Walt's wedding will happen down the line, although it may end in tragedy as some say that one of them will bite the dust. However, it's too early to think about that angle as the two are still mending their relationship following Walt's decision to distance himself from Vic.

"Longmire" season 5 will premiere on Friday, Sept. 23, on Netflix.
