Los Angeles Clippers trade news: Veteran point guard Raymond Felton lands
Looking to add depth to their bench, the Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly signed point guard Raymond Felton.
According to the NBA website, the move was recently completed but information on the length and amount of the contract has not yet been disclosed.
At 32 years old, Felton is joining his sixth team in his professional career and spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
In two season with the Mavs, Felton only averaged around eight points per game as he struggled for playing time after only playing less than 30 minutes per game.
However, in his career he averages 12.4 points and shoots a decent 41 percent from the field.
And despite his dip in performances in the regular season, Felton showed his veteran experience during the playoffs last year where he elevated his game to average 15 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists in five post-season games.
Felton was the fifth pick in the 2005 NBA Draft and was considered to have the potential to be one of the better point guards in the league.
Unfortunately, he has not found consistency in his game and he has continuously fallen down the pecking order in the teams he plays in.
However, for the Clippers he will be a great addition as he can give in quality minutes behind Chris Paul. And when the starting guard needs a break, the Clippers are sure to have a point guard who can distribute the ball and score in spurts.
Felton's contract with the Mavericks expired at the end of last year and he made around $3.8 million in his two years in Texas. He is very likely to have around the similar contract with the Clippers if not accepting a veteran minimum.
Despite his age, fans can expect Felton to still have a few years left in him as a good back-up point guard for a playoff team.
