LA Lakers trade rumors: Lakers linked to big man from Philadelphia 76ers
As the summer continues, new and updated trade rumors sprout for the Los Angeles Lakers.
They have been linked to big names like Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder and DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings.
However, Inquisitr revealed a smaller move that still makes a lot of sense for all parties involved. According to the outlet, the Lakers are now linked to make a move for the Philadelphia 76ers' big man Nerlens Noel.
The Lakers are set to spend big at the end of the 2016-17 season despite having limited funds at the moment. However, a move for Noel makes sense as he does not really cost too much but still has a lot of potential and should be worth the money the Lakers will spend.
Noel is entering the third year of his career and has put up respectable numbers, especially in his sophomore outing.
Last year, the 21-year-old averaged 11.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while playing under 30 minutes per contest.
He also shot 52 percent from the field last year but is still struggling from the free throw line.
Moving to the Lakers may help Noel improve further as he will be the best big man in the line-up as he will not have much of competition with Los Angeles.
At the moment, the Sixers have Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor and Noel as young and athletic big men which has hampered their development in the league.
Regarding his contract, Noel is still relatively cheap as he is still in his rookie contract and is set to earn $4.3 million in the coming season. This could be the best time for the Lakers to swoop in for a young player who will go for cheap and they can then renegotiate next summer when the team has more money to spend.
Expect more updates and news in the coming days regarding the link between Noel and the Lakers.
