Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Eyeing move for John Wall?

Still looking to land a big star to play in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Lakers are linked to a move for an All-Star point guard.

According to Ecumenical News, John Wall of the Washington Wizards is a target of the Western Conference team in order to help them develop into a playoff contender in the Western Conference.

It has been no secret that the Wizards and Wall have had a rocky relationship Because of his link with shooting guard Bradley Beal. Their on-court issues have stopped the Wizards from being an elite team in the East and now it appears that Wall is looking for a way out.

The Lakers currently have a point guard with D'Angelo Russell but it seems like they are looking for a more established player to run the team.

Russell had a relatively good season last year but was very inconsistent. His controversies off the court might be deemed as unacceptable for the Lakers brass.

As a result, other reports believe that the Wizards may be open to trading Wall for Russell in order to restore some peace in their backcourt.

Looking at their numbers, Wall has the more impressive resume as he is a three-time All-Star and averaged 18 points per game in his six-year career. Furthermore, in the last two years, Wall has averaged a double-double – more than 10 assists per game in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons while also scoring double figures.

On the other hand, Russell only has one season under his career and he averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He had moments when he dominated the game and linked well with his backcourt partner, Jordan Clarkson. Russell also still has a high ceiling given that he is only 20 years old.

It should be interesting to see what will happen if the trade pushes through and how it will affect the respective teams.
