Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors: Lakers may trade Young
With the new season underway, the Los Angeles Lakers certainly look like a better team with a young and hungry core.
Their young stars led by D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson have helped the Lakers become relevant this year. They are right in the middle of the Pacific Division and have better records than the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns.
With that, teams are trying to move forward, and the Lakers are no exception as rumors now link the team to move out a veteran player for some draft picks. According to talks, the Lakers are looking to send out Young to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a second-round draft pick.
While this may seem like a little too low, it may be a strategy for the Lakers to get new players for the future, given their young core.
Young is now in his early 30s and should have only a few years left at his peak.
His averages this year are better than what he used to have as he scores 12.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. This is much better than his career averages of 11.8 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Young has also improved this year as he has been injected to the starting lineup of the Lakers and he has responded with improved numbers. With the Lakers, Young has averaged around 40 percent shooting and is still at par this season.
If he can continue his steady performance, he can increase his stock and demand more if he is traded by the Lakers.
For the Thunder, adding Young to their lineup may be a little problematic as they have too many shooting guards at the moment. Victor Oladipo is the team's starting guard but the Thunder have other guards like Cameron Payne and Anthony Morrow who can play the shooting guard position.
It should be interesting to see this rumor unfold.
