'Lucifer' season 2 episode 10 spoilers: Charlotte targets Chloe; Tim DeKay to appear as shady professor in 2017

There's something about Chloe (Lauren German), and Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) is about to find out exactly what it is in the next episode of "Lucifer" season 2.

As a detective, a single mother, and Lucifer's one real weakness in all sense of the word, Chloe quite definitely is the best person to take out of the equation if someone as determined as Charlotte wants to turn her son Lucifer against the world. A mother's gotta do what a mother's gotta do in order to take her son back home.

But it seems that Lucifer is aware of his mom's devious plans as he gives her fair warning to stay away from his beloved detective in the episode promo. Not be easily deterred, Charlotte turns to Amenadiel (DB Woodside) for intel on Chloe, and what she finds out may not only serve as the key to convince Lucifer to come home, but could also change Lucifer and Chloe's relationship for good.

According to an advance preview on Spoiler TV, the upcoming episode titled "Quid Pro Ho" immediately picks up on the cliffhanger the previous episode concluded with. Chloe apparently survives Charlotte's first underhanded attack on her life, but the identity of her savior may come as a surprise to the show's viewers.

The preview also teased that the episode, in a way, provides an answer to a long-running question that fans of the show have had since the beginning. Could this finally be an explanation as to why the supposedly immortal Lucifer becomes vulnerable whenever Chloe is around? Or could it be an answer to something else entirely? What is Charlotte planning to do that could potentially lead to life-altering experiences for the main characters of the show? 

"Lucifer" season 2's midseason finale airs on Monday, Nov. 28, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.

Meanwhile, a new character is joining the cast for a rather ominous midseason arc. According to TV Line, Tim DeKay of "White Collar" stars as a neuroscience professor whose presence in Lucifer's life may lead to some dire ramifications for someone he cares about. DeKay appears in episodes 12 and 13 which are scheduled to air next year.
