'Lucifer' season 2 spoilers: Charlotte to use Chloe in order to execute her plan; DC's Constantine to guest star?
Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) uses Chloe (Lauren German) to get what she wants when "Lucifer" returns for the back half of season 2 next year.
The show's midseason finale left off with a huge bombshell dropped by Amenadiel when he revealed that Chloe is a miracle baby who was conceived through God's intervention. Lucifer's mother, Charlotte, immediately saw opportunity in the intel, with the coming episodes set to explore how she will use the secret to her advantage.
While the reason why God put Chloe in his son's path remains unclear, Charlotte will certainly see Chloe as an answer to her prayer. Since she arrived on Earth, all Charlotte wanted was to reunite with her sons in heaven, and Chloe might be the only person who could make it happen.
According to co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich, season 2 kicks off with Charlotte doing the best she can to get her sons back. "We will definitely find out how she plans to use Chloe, right away," she teased. "And since we know Mom will stop at nothing to get back her family, which includes Lucifer, she's going to use Lucifer's feelings against him. She's going to weaponize those feelings, putting the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe in major jeopardy," she went on to say.
Debuted in 2015, "Lucifer" is loosely based on Vertigo's comic book series "The Sandman." Since its release, fans have wondered whether the series would ever introduce some of the comic's famed characters. Modrovich recently spoke about the introduction of new faces, and DC's Constantine might be making a cameo appearance in the Fox drama's second season.
"Never say never, but right now we have no plans for him," the showrunner said. "We might invite a little character from the comic books, Cain, at some point."
The third season of "Lucifer" returns on Monday, Jan. 16, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
