The wait for season 2 of the fantasy police procedural series "Lucifer" is almost over, but Fox is still amping up they hype as they release two new trailers for the show's second season.

"She's going to kill me," Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) tells his therapist Dr. Linda Martin (Rachael Harris) in a teaser trailer released by FOX titled, "Even Lucifer Prays."

He is, of course, referring to his mother, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer), who escaped Hell in the previous season's finale. To add insult to the injury, his devoted ally, Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), tells him that his mother is "stupid hot" and also possesses a credit card, two things that a celestial being needs to get around the city. This drives Lucifer to such heights of paranoia that forces him to press his hands together and pray, much to his partner, Det. Chloe Decker's (Lauren German) surprise.

Helfer, a "Battlestar Galactica" alum, was cast to play Lucifer and Amenadiel's (D. B. Woodside) mother back in June and was soon after promoted to series regular in July, according to a report by TV Line. Charlotte's escape from Hell has clearly turned Lucifer's world upside down, which, in turn, promises another quirky, dark, humorous ride through the life of God's prodigal son.

Another teaser trailer titled, "Where Does Maze Belong?" hints on the demoness Mazikeen's upcoming storyline as she tries to pull away from her blind loyalty to Lucifer and try to find her place in her new world.

According to Screen Rant, "Lucifer" season 2 will find its characters reexamining themselves, and ultimately, deciding whether they should keep their new chosen paths or go back to their old devilish ways. Fans are also looking forward to Lucifer and Charlotte's interactions and the story behind their apparently strained relationship.

Screen Rant also hoped that the second season will also focus more on the dramatic rather than the humorous aspects of the show and really give each episode a chance to flesh out the characters and the stories behind their motivations.

"Lucifer" season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
