'Lucifer' season 2 spoilers: Who is Chloe? Will God's rumored appearance finally reveal the answer?
Viewers of FOX's take on the life and times of God's prodigal son, Lucifer, know that Chloe Decker (Lauren German) is more than what meets the eye. After the midseason finale finally revealed the circumstances behind her miraculous birth, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) seems to have come up with a plan to get herself and her children back home to the Silver City.
But what exactly will drawing Lucifer and Chloe closer to each other accomplish? Amenadiel has qualms about his mom's plan as shown in the trailer for the upcoming episode titled "Stewardess Interruptus." But what can a mom not do in order to bring her flock back home where they are the safest? Is Mama Morningstar really just concerned with her children's well-being, or is there something else that she's not telling them?
It seems that Charlotte will come rushing to Lucifer with the truth, but how will her son handle such a revelation? Will it heighten his resentment toward his father, or will it only add to his reasons for wanting to see his old man? How exactly will Chloe's origins affect the celestials' presence on Earth and their possible return to Heaven?
Executive producer Ildy Modrovich told TV Line that asking Amenadiel (DB Woodside) to bless Chloe's parents with a child was an unprecedented order coming from God.
"God is the one that basically put her in Lucifer's path," Modrovich said. But for what purpose, only God himself knows.
Fortunately, Lucifer's absentee father has been rumored to make an appearance in the show's back half, following a casting call for a "Sam Elliott type," who will play a psychiatric patient claiming to be the one and only God Almighty. As the storyline goes, Lucifer will try to prove this man is lying, but God Johnson may just prove him wrong otherwise when he starts sharing truths only God could possibly know about Lucifer.
Is this man really God? And if he is, will he finally answer all of Lucifer's burning questions for him before he disappears again?
"Lucifer" season 2 will return on Monday, Jan. 16, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
