There are reports that suggest fans of the hit Marvel–Netflix series "Luke Cage" can expect the next installment of the series to build up the story for another upcoming Marvel title on Netflix, "The Defenders."

"The Defenders" is another league of Marvel superheroes, like the Avengers, the members of which are Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

"Luke Cage" lead actor, Colter, already talked about this in the previous months. Though he was not certain about anything at that time, it still poses a huge possibility for the Marvel franchise on Netflix.

Colter earlier told IGN, "I think there's a big-picture plan that includes everyone doing their own series, which we've done, culminating to make The Defenders. I think after that anything goes."

There are several possibilities on what the small screen adaptation of "Luke Cage" can take on next. Reports suggest that the arc of "Heroes for Hire" is also a possible plot to take on Netflix. Marvel comics fans know that "Heroes for Hire" is a business established by Luke Cage that provides unbelievable protection to anyone who hires him. He was later on joined by Iron Fist.

Another interesting plot is when Luke Cage and Jessica Jones embark on the parenthood life, which will greatly affect their lifestyle as superheroes.

On the other hand, as for Erik LaRay Harvey who was introduced as Willis Stryker a.k.a. Diamondback in the second half of "Luke Cage's" first season, he would love to see his character and his brother Luke Cage "resolving their differences" according to report from Bustle.

However, the same report also presents the possibility that Diamondback might turn out to be someone on the bad side.

As for the release date of "Luke Cage" season 2, there is nothing certain as of the moment. But there are speculations that it might not come earlier than 2018 since Netflix will only air a specific number of Marvel titles within a year.
