MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs rumors: Mac Air refresh expected this October, to boast thinner appearance & 5K display
The most recent Apple Event this September showcased the Cupertino-based tech giant's huge device offerings this year. Those who tuned in to the special announcement last Sept. 7 were able to see the iPhone 7 smartphone for the first time, as well as the Apple Watch Series 2 wearable device. However, some people were also disappointed as Apple did not mention any plans to refresh their current Mac laptops, particularly the MacBook Air. However, there is still hope that Apple has more to reveal in the coming weeks.
According to the latest rumors, the September 7 Apple Event will not be the last event of the company for 2016. It is highly speculated that Apple was planning a separate press event other than the earlier one this month. As the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2, as well as the iOS 10 full version, were already unveiled two weeks ago, the company can now shift its gear to the unveiling of the latest MacBook upgrades.
One of the expected Mac refreshes this year is the 2016 version of MacBook Air. The last Mac Air model was released back in March 2015, and it is probably high time for Apple to release the latest version of the laptop this year. If the rumors are correct, then the public can expect the next Apple Event happening next month.
A few days prior to the September 7 event, Bloomberg reported that Apple has plans to update their MacBook devices this Fall or before the year ends. According to Bloomberg's sources, the most probable release date of the new Mac laptops is sometime in October. This supports the present rumors that the 2016 MacBook Air, possibly along with the new MacBook Pro, will be released next month. However, Apple has yet to announce a new press event for the rumored Mac refresh.
Meanwhile, Game N Guide reported that the 2016 version of Mac Air will have a very light appearance, probably lighter than its predecessor. It is rumored that the MacBook Air 2016 will be the thinnest Mac laptop yet from Apple. Also, the screen display of the next MacBook Air will feature a major improvement as it is rumored to have a full 5K display. Other rumored highlights of the next Mac Air model include the additional USB-C ports.
