MacBook Pro 2016 release date: Unveiling of new Mac Pro delayed until December; Apple to wait for Intel Kaby Lake?
The public is still waiting for Apple to refresh the MacBook Pro. While the Cupertino-based tech giant has not yet announced their plans to release the next iteration of the laptop model, the rumors are rife that the new MacBook Pro will be revealed very soon. At first, it was thought that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be unveiled at the September 7 Apple Event. However, it appears that Apple is saving another date for the special announcement of their new MacBooks.
The recent rumors suggest that Apple will be holding a separate event that will highlight the MacBook Pro 2016. The press event earlier this month was focused on the iPhone 7, but this time around, the public will get more information about the new MacBook Pro. Some are speculating that the event will happen this October, but there is also a possibility that the date will be moved quite later in the year. At this time, it can be expected that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be revealed this December.
While the new Mac Pro is expected to appear before 2016 ends, the public may only see the device until the last month of the year. This is due to the reports that Apple may push through with the plans to use Intel's next generation of processor. According to Game N Guide, it is possible that the 2016 Mac Pros will be powered by the Kaby Lake chipset. Still, Intel has yet to ship all the Kaby Lake units and might only be completely shipped until December.
iTech Post reported that the 2016 Macbook Pro version may follow the footstep of the iPhone 7 by removing the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, the new Mac Pro will also be using the wireless audio technology and rely on the AirPod.
The laptop is also rumored to feature an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display touch bar with Touch ID functionality. The small secondary OLED screen on top of the Macbook Pro 2016's keyboard will allow people to easily skim through app shortcuts. Likewise, the OLED touch screen will have a fingerprint scanning feature for enhanced security measures, similar to the iPhone and iPad.
The online publication mentioned ghat the MacBook Pro 2016 will be presented with 8GB and 16GB RAM variants, both having at least 1TB internal memory. It is also expected to sport a lighter and thinner appearance than its predecessor. Its screen display is reported to support 5K displays clocked at a screen resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels.
